They were still ice fishing on it last week. With reports of a foot of ice still. A few IDIOTS were out on it. It's going to be a late spring up there this year. With eyes hitting around the 3rd week of April if not later. The big bite might occur when the season opens in all the rest of the state in May It's going to take at least a month to get the water temps in the 50's. Should start to see some reports of crappies being caught towards the end of April.
Just saw a post over at Fish USA that the lake is still locked up with only open water at spillway and under the bridges.
I was there Saturday and it looks pretty solid yet, the docks at Linesville were still frozen in
Was there Sunday , had maybe a dozen fishermen at Tuttle and maybe a dozen guys out near Stewart. Spillway was open. I would expect more openwater this week. Was told ice was thining quickly. Titghtlines
Tightlines
Glad to see the update coming. It's well needed.
Fished the lines vile area Thursday and did pretty good. We caught a lot of fish but a lot were small. Threw back probably close to 50 specks, gills, and perch. I kept 9 big crappies and my buddy kept 27. All on jigs. Only a couple of our regular colors didn't work. Bobber with jig, 4ft down. No matter how deep the water was, the fish were up high.
thanks all... My father and I are chomping at the bit to chase some of those slab crappie and tasty eyes.
I was there yesterday, looked liked it had melted about 2 ft. off the shore, but refroze Tuesday night to about 1/4 inch. Some of the shallow bays are starting to open up.The main ice is starting to get get that dark look to it
