    Default Fish finder-GPS

What is a decent fish finder-gps combo that I can look at that won't break the bank? I looked through cabelas site and figured that I would have to spend around $500-700 or so. I wasn't sure if you could use the hand held gps units to plug in and store waypoints. Any advice?

I think you would be better served with a combo DF/GPS instead of a separate GPS. To me it is just easier to work right there on the DF screen when you see something you want to mark on the DF just hit the waypoint button and you got it.

Both HB and Lowrance make good units. I would suggest that you call Brain at BBG Marine, one of our sponsors, and tell him what you want and your budget. He usually beats the box store prices (Cabelas, BPS etc) and may have a close out on some units that will get you a much better unit for your money than you other wise would have gotten. He ships really fast too, I think I had my DF about 3 days after I talked with him.

The Humminbird 899 is in the top side of your range if you are patient. Very easy to use and hopefully I will get the hang of it. Did have a blank card to take screenshots with but did just take a pic with my phone. I know some say you don't need SI and I suppose they are rite my way of looking at it is the SI units are more advanced and when spending my money I like to get as much bang for my buck as I can. The creek bed in this pic is in the upper end of a lake and with the help of SI I no longer have to be rite on top of something to mark it, just move the cursor over and mark it. Get as much screen as you can for your money.
