    Default When did this change?

RODS, LINES, AND HOOKS – An angler may use a maximum of three lines fished either by rod or hand when fishing for gamefish, baitfish or both. It is unlawful for a person to fish with more than three fishing rods at a time. There is no restriction on the number of hooks used on each fishing line. All rods, lines and hooks shall be under the immediate control of the person using them

Are we now unlimited, as to how many hooks per line?

    This past year.

You can use 5 poles if your ice fishing or 5 tip ups or combination of both but not more than 5 total.

ICE FISHING EQUIPMENT – It is unlawful while ice fishing to use more than five fishing devices, which may consist of rods, hand lines, tip-ups or any combination. Each device shall contain a single fishing line with no more than three hooks attached to each line. Holes cut in ice may not exceed 10 inches between the farthest points as measured in any direction. All lines, rods or tip-ups shall be under the immediate control of the person using them. On Fish & Boat Commission lakes, shelters or shanties must be removed when finished fishing for the day.

Thanks Sparkie, I had read that too. For soft water, it can be rods and hand line, for a total of 3. But why unlimited hooks per line? I can just see some things happen because of that. And probably not good things. A hand line with say 10 to 25 hooks on it, being set up.

They changed it more to apease the trollers out on erie than anyone else. It is nice when drifting to be able to use 3 poles. It would help the perch guys on erie. 20 hooks and minnows dropped to the bottom twice you'll have your limit.
