airboats/weekends
Don't usually fish the weekends but took a chance and fished the withalacochie in citrus county, florida saturday. Just enough water to launch but had to use truck instead of van to get far enough out to float boat off trailer. Never hit bottom but very weedy, had to keep cleaning electric and gas motor. Only caught a few but one nice one. Going to back midweek. Lots and lots of airboats, some slowed down, some didn't, some waved, some didn't, all were very noisy! But thats okay, it is their hobby. When we quit for the day, just down from the launch at a local watering hole there was probably 30 airboats tied up around it. Fishing can be a chatty sport and some of the other fishermen were very helpful, down stream about 1 1/2 miles shellcrackers were on their beds, of course we went up steam so we could drift back useing trolling motor to put us in position to fish different spots. Have only lived here a few years and had been fishing the lakes and gulfcoast mainly but learning to try different areas. Useing icefishing glowjigs tipped with nightwalkers pieces. Very long post but trying to do my part since I have learned quite a lot from others posts here and also on crappie page.

An old uncle lived down there a good many years and fished. I made it down to stop by and see him, but we never got out fishing. He was big on the shellcrackers, wish we'd have gotten out as he's gone now. Never get tired of hearing about the panfishing down there, thanks for the report.

The river is nuts on the weekends. Have you tried Lake Panasoffkee? It is the shellcracker and bluegill capital in these parts. They recently dredged the lake and it is supposed to be really good this year. I've been trying to get a free day to get over there and try it.

I have been over checking lake panasoffkee out, talked to a guide in jan. But money got tight so I did not go. Leaving for NY soon for the summer but will fish lake panasoffkee out this fall.
