first off, pumkinseed bream have red ears too, and they are two different fish. pull up some photos on the internet. they get bigger faster than a regular bream, and if the place has snails, clams or mussels, in good quantity, catching a mess over a pound is no big deal. they pretty much stay close to the bottom too.
