    Default Reelfoot Gills

Headed down in mid march and wondering if we could catch them nice gills at that time?

It is possible, but not very likely. All depends on the weather and how warm the water is. Id say if the water is warm, and the full moon is out, you might have a chance at some big ones. Another month and definately.

Call Louie at Grizzly Jig and he will give you the scoop (if there is any) on what you can expect out of the bluegill in March.

Thanks WTC!! I figured it would be too early. When do the lilly pads start coming in?

... or check out his Grizzly Fishin' book. He gives very detailed descriptions of what to expect throughout the year.

I kind of think at reelfoot bluegills at least for the most part aren't targeted until the crappie spawn is over. Here we can catch gills any month of the year. They aren't always shallow and take some searching for but can be caught. Gills like other fish still need to eat.
