Hey, I said I didn't measure it. :D On the day she caught that fish, we spent about 2 hours in the boat. I never put a hook in the water, just trolled her around and let her have at it. She caught 21!!!
When I was a kid, I never understood why my dad got more enjoyment out of watching my brother and me catch fish, than catching one himself. I certainly understand it now!!! Anyone who has never had the opportunity to watch a kid on a bed of bream has no idea what they are missing!!!

Here is a bluegill I caught last year in a pond that was stocked 7 or 8 years ago and then just ignored. I caught it on a 2wt. fly rod with one of the first flies I ever tied. It was also the first fish I caught on a fly rod that made me actually use the drag of my reel to fight it. That was probably my most satisfying bluegill catch to date.
It was just a hair shy of 10 inches long and a touch over 2 inches thick. We guesstimated it to be around 1.25 to 1.5 pounds since we didn't have a decent scale on hand.

Not the largest I've caught, but these are the biggest ones I caught at the end of the year last year and the only ones I have pictures of. Hopefully I can add some whoppers this year . kirby
Gillchaser, where'd you get that rod in the last pic? At first glance, I thought it was an Eagle Claw rod, but the handle doesn't look like the Eagle Claw rod.
Make it yourself? Graphite or fiberglass?
It's an Eagle Claw . It's a 2010 model, 6 1/2 foot 4/5 weight .They have upgraded them this year (the 6 1/2 and 8 foot models from what I've read ) I got it from troutlet.com . It's a glass rod , but not as wimpy as the older models . Nice little rod for the money, if you like short rods . kirbyQuote:

My son and I had some great quality time fishing together this year, and even managed a few decent ones. looking forward to ice out here so we can get after em, he saw me checking out this thread and wanted me to show him off, so like any proud poppa would do, I did :D
