Default Iprimi fun ! Short trip

Short trip while my wife was having her hair done.
I decided to give my 5’6” Daiwa Iprimi XXUL another try since I’d only be fishing what turned to be around forty five minutes.
I paired it with a 500 size Shimano Soare bb and some 2# Ande line , with one of my .5g micro streamer jigs tied onto the end.

The water was down a couple of feet , giving me some under the dock shooting targets at the concrete boat ramp.
On my second cast I hooked with a 4 1/2” warmouth that put a full bend in the tiny rod and stripped a little drag as I maneuvered him around the dock posts .
Between the docks and what rocks were left with some water around them, I managed to catch a baker’s dozen of mostly warmouth, but with a couple of bluegills and green sunfish joining the fun .
The XXUL Iprimi was a pretty good shooter . The rod actually performed better , IMO as a shooter than it did as a caster . A little too much wiggle after the cast .
But the bend makes up for the wiggle.
It’s all about matching the tackle with the fish .
I still think the rod would be a better performer as a five footer to stiffen the tip a little and make it a little faster rod .

Beats waiting in my car playing with my phone . .

NICE!! At least someone is getting out. Pretty colors on the Warmouth. I found some bedded up under an overhanging tree and spent about 45 minutes playing with them before they’d had enough. They get stout when they get some size to em.

Well, I think I'll be able to let you know about that idea...

I somehow shredded the tip of my Imprimi earlier this week. No idea why it happened, but it must have been on my last cast after landing my kayak at the ramp. I'd tossed out a Yo-Zuri Snap Bean as final "going away" cast off the ramp and the dang leader line (and apparently the rod tip) broke off and sailed into the distance. Thought it was just the leader knot popping off, but went I unloaded the car back at home I saw the Imprimi's tip section was missing at a shredded break 1" above the second guide.

Not a happy camper after that. To salvage the rod, I cut the break off as close possible to the second guide, making it the new "tip." I haven't used the shortened version yet, but will let you know how it goes.

Like you said, it's such a fun rod with how the smallest fish puts a huge bend in it. Here's to hoping it's still functional as a midget-XXUL.

Sorry to hear of your breakage.
The price of the Iprimi rods and most other JDM rods have gotten ridiculous .
My favorite rod at this time is a 5’2” Chinese rod off Amazon made by SeaSir . Best part is they’re less than $50 .
