B.O.T. Back on Top !
My fishing buddy has beaten me in the numbers challenge three fishing trips in a row .
I told him last week , next week I’ll be ready .
I caught Fifty-two fishing trips in today, my buddy twenty-five .
Not only did I catch more, I also caught the bigger ones that were caught .
I caught a mixed bag today including orangespot sunfish, redbreast , green sunfish , shellcracker , bluegills , a channel cat , and a couple of small spotted bass .
All were caught using my handtied size 4mm tungsten bead streamer jigs , tied on a size 14 hook .
Rods used were a 6’ TFO UL Panfish II , 5’2” SeaSir UL, and a shortened , 4’11” Abu Garcia MB3 . Reels were Soare XR500spg , and Daiwa Exceler Lt1000 with a Legalis shallow spool .
All were loaded with 2# Ande Tournament yellow line that breaks at 1.75# .
I had two fish break me off after I got them in and like a dummy was holding them by the line . One was a 5” bluegill , the other an 8” spotted bass .
It breaks easily, but I love this nylon monofilament.
The lake was down some more from last week . It is now about one foot above winter pool .
Weather was beautiful mid 70’s to low 80’s by the time we left around 4pm .
Only issue was the wind . A fairly strong NE wind that put it either left to right or directly into us at our favorite parks .
I’m certain I could have caught more if it weren’t for the wind .
