Nice

My fishing buddy and I are back to meeting weekly again .
The water level at the lake we meet at , has been dropping each week. This week the lake was down about 3’ below full pool.
This create an issue . At mid level , the shallows are too shallow and extend too far away from the next drop off . The shallows only hold little fish .
My buddy and I enjoy catching fish no matter the size but sometimes I like to catch a few a little bigger .![]()
Today I attempted to remedy the issue , by going up in weight of my jigs to a 4.6mm tungsten bead jigs that weigh around .85g , around 1/32 oz .
This caused a problem. Twitching With heavier jigs , I was able to reach out far enough to pickup a few nice shellcrackers today , but at a cost . I lost nine jigs !
I spent half of my time retying .
My buddy caught 35 today to my 27 , but , some of mine were quality fish ..
Upper 80’s put us in areas with shade and it felt like the humidity was a little lower today too.
Fun time for both .

Nice outing for such a hot day. I’d hide in the shade too. Thanks for sharing

Redear in first picture is a chunk. 9 jigs lost is a lot of retying. Sure tries your patience.

I agree, the first cracker is chunky! Retying that much is aggravating but more so for me as it usually cost me a leader too. The numbers were good though.
