    Default 4-23-25 Meetup Bass,gills,and Kitties

Met up with my fishing friend just before noon with threatening skies .
With scatters thunderstorms in the forecast . The wind most of the day wasn’t bad .

We spent 2.5 hrs at the first boat ramp .
I landed four spotted bass , two channel cats , and 33 assorted panfish , bluegills , redbreasts, green sunfish and a few hybrids.
The cats and bass were the highlights of the day. Both cats took 15-20 minutes to land using a 5’2” SeaSir Steam ULF rod , a Soare bb500spg reel and 2# Ande Tournament yellow line.
The bass and catfish were caught using a size 10 version of my micro jig . The bass were a nice UL fun size that were landed in about five minutes .
The gills were caught mostly on a size 14 micro jig .
I’m not crazy about catching catfish , but it’s hard to find a better battler on UL tackle . The bigger one put a hurting on my thumb when I tried lip it after beaching on the boat ramp .
I also had an extra large size bass try to take one of my biggest gills . It attacked my bluegill right in front of me in shallow water , took off for deeper water for about five minutes, then turned the bream loose . Estimation was over six , maybe eight pounds , it was BIG !
I had several smaller bass try to take my gills away from me . I would rush getting the gills in to keep them from the bass .
A fun time today ! We went home at four . I spent most of the day standing on rocks with nowhere to put my fishing stool and be able to fish .

I agree on the whisker fish. The ones I’ve caught are always a surprise and take a long time to land. Youuys had a good time, glad to hear of it. Supposed to go look at a walk to fishin spot tomorrow. Hope it’s good.

That's a fun trip with the variety and your bass encounter. 5 minutes with one that big will get the blood pumping.
