Sounds like a fun way to fish to me. Nothing like fishing with friends![]()

It’s been awhile since my fishing buddy has been able to meet me at our midway fishing spot .
Weather was supposed to be cloudy to partly cloudy and low 60’s with light winds , but the sun came out and the temps were a pleasant mid 60’s .
The water was stained to almost muddy depending on location .
With water temps in the upper 40’s I wasn’t optimistic about our chances of catching anything significant.
I credit my buddy with my overall success of the day .
I didn’t think the water was warm enough for the green sunfish to be in the rocks , but he dropped his Trout Magnet in a few holes and jigged up a nice green sunfish of about five inches .
I dropped my little white 4mm size 10 handtie into a pocket and thump . I had one .
Most of these fish are micros about three inches long . Beautiful little fish.
I’m going start calling this type fishing MRF , Micro Rock Fishing .
It reminds me of light rock fishing I’ve watched several videos on and the Ajing Japanese fishing .
My rod today is a perfect rod for this style fishing . My 5’8” Major Craft Aji do 58L . Paired today with my Shimano Soare XR c2000sspg and 2# Floroclear .
Some folks wouldn’t enjoy this type of fishing like y buddy and I do . But I think it’s a blast to jig around the rocks and pull these awesome little fish out from under the rocks .
They are quick , they dart out , grab your jig and will wedge themselves in the rocks if you’re not quick enough to keep them out .
I think my tiny micro jigs are perfect for this .
My total catch today was 20 , 15 green sunfish , four bluegills (some of them hybrid mix with redbreast ) and one small LM .
Great fun day spent with a great fishing friend .
Going post a few pics of the green sunfish in the micro photo thread .

I’ll take that. Sounds like a good trip, lots of fun. Having your bud back with you was no doubt better than the fish.

Fun day for all. Those green sunfish are masters of the snags and are responsible for a lot of lost jigs by grabbing jigs and darting back to cover. One lake has a concrete walk around it and two spots where the concrete has a 2" gap between slabs that has some water. Drop a jig down in the crack and catch a green sunfish most of the time, maybe several. They are almost black they are so dark. I call them side walk sunnies.
That first image shows some beautiful colors and well defined patterns…thanks for sharing
