I think you’ll love that rod . It’s not as noodlely as the ultralight 6’6” . And only slightly heavier .
Still gives a nice bend when loaded up with a fish .
I have a couple ML’s I used to use to fish inshore saltwater .
Nice rods too.

Keep in mind that the 1 and 2 piece rods were very different to me. Where the 1 piece weight was more in the hand, the 2 piece felt more tip heavy and slightly pulled at the top of the forearm more. I think that a lightweight 2000 series reel like maybe a Presso or Vanford would make a sweet combo.
I would probably get the BPS Carbonlite 2.0 in a 2000 size, or maybe the 1500 size. That is a Daiwa reel in disguise, and the 2000 is the same size as the Daiwa 2500. I’m not sure what size the 1500 would equate to. The Carbonlite has a shallower spool than the standard Daiwa reels so even a larger one holds less line which would be good for using something smaller like 4 pound line I think.
I’d definitely get the 1 piece rod as well. All of my rods are 1 piece. I’ll probably just go to Bass Pro and buy it rather than order it. This way I can test fit the reel before buying. If that’s not the reel for the rod then I’ll just find one while there.

Rooster, that’s a good plan. I’ve done that a few times and not regretted it. Hope you find what you’re after.
