    Default Proper sliming, cool start

I believe they said that it was 41* this morning but it warmed up nicely into the 60’s as the day went on, I’ve got a large list of things to do asap so I didn’t have long to play. In about 7:30 and left the fishing grounds at 10. I went to play with the gills and found some along with a few crappie. A few of the gills were approaching stud quality and a few were downright small. I was happy for every one of them. This is the first time I’ve been in the river since Milton blew things around and flooded so bad. The fish are back out of the woods some and ready to play. The new Presso rod performed wonderfully and the combo is nothing but sweet. I paired the rod with the Presso 1025 that Scott fixed me up with and I couldn’t ask for more. I also had the Trout X 5’ 6” along and while they’re both nice I think the Presso is lighter in weight and a little lighter action. Todays fish were lots of fun with them both. Anyway, money well spent and the looks are nice too. Here’s a few of the stars of the day and thanks for coming along……Skeet

Sounds like a productive trip and I’m jealous about those panfish . Mine are in hiding right now .
So I’m playing with the greenies .
    Nice looking combo .
I have the Presso rods in a 5’ , 6’ , and 7’ foot versions . I think the 5’6” would have been a better choice than any of the ones I have .
The five has seen more action than the other two together.

I’m going try to get back to the pond tomorrow for maybe a couple hours.
They’re predicting rain the first three days this week , and warmer temps , in the sixties . Maybe the influx of warmer water will wake up the gills before the next arctic wave comes through.
Thanks for the pics and report .

Thanks Chaser. This was where I played with the gills all summer and the bite was very different. I didn’t expect the larger fish and was glad to see them. And I think this rod makes 5 in that length and they’re all a little different. I hope you get out soon. Just saw the weather and we’re back to winds from the southwest which means warmer and moister. Right now it’s calm and near 50. A virtual heat wave. I’m ready to go but I’ve got too much to do.

Nice trip for a couple hours out. Those coppernose are so cool. A great variety pack catching the big 3. Only thing missing is a Redear. Maybe next trip.
