    Default Another Great Day

Wife and I made the 68 mile drive and put in at 11:45 am. The wind made it difficult to fish but found the usual spot was the only place to get a little shelter from it. Caught a ton of shell cracker and some bluegill. Most of the time I was using the 63 Lunakia but later switched to the Abu Garcia Diplomat Extreme 62 UL. Both had a Daiwa Ballistic FW 1000 spooled with Varivas 1.7# test ES2 Lemoni Ester line. Used a 1.5 gram Daiwa Gekkabijin SS jig head with #8 hook. The line is just a game changer for sensitivity, and maximum fun factor. The wife caught several good shell cracker. While the lake is certainly full of them I have not come across any at 10 inches or better. Of course this lake was dry in 2020. After about 3 hours pulled out and headed to picnic area to have a nice evening meal then headed home. Name: IMG_5106.jpg

Nice. Sounds and looks like very enjoyable place to fish.

Some really nice fish in that lake considering it was dry in 2020. Looks like they are finding plenty to eat and are growing. Couple more years of growth and that lake will be a gem with plenty of 10" + fish.

It's a great place for sure. Hardly ever crowded but that will change the they open up the crappie fishing. Plenty of crappie in there at the 12 inch mark and I know when they are allowed to harvest fish it will be full of crappie anglers.

She's not listening to you about your first love. Be wise to take a trip to the trout river for "happy wife, happy life" syndrome. LOL
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
