Default Slow Labor Day gill chasing

A local oil change shop had a 50% off sale today , so at 10:00 , I was fourth in line for a 10 minute oil change . Which means I should have been getting my turn around 10:40 , it was closer to 11:00 and took about 18 minutes to complete. Still not bad .

I got to Lake McIntosh around 11:40 .
Mainly I wanted to try out a couple of combos and hoped I’d catch a few gills in the process.
I took a 5’5” DAIWA Tsukiza Beauty Aging Rod , UL rod paired with a Carbon X 1000s reel and a 6’ TFO UL rod that I put the Carbon X reel on because it was lighter than the Daiwa Legalis lt1000 I had on it . Line was Daiwa J-braid and 4# Floroclear leader .
    I liked the TFO/Carbon X combo the best .
The Ajing rod was xx fast , IMO , only flexing in the top 12” without a lot of pull on the line .

Lure used was a Size 10 Lil’ Nasty sickle hook with a 4mm tungsten bead and a couple wraps of chenille and mini trout magnet body , resembling a nymph .

As I said in my opening, the fishing was slow and I only landed five small to medium gills in a little over an hour fishing which included some reel swapping and a ten minute talk with the local Marshal , who checked my license.
The TFO rod is new and so far I’m liking it .

Next trip out I’m going back to my 2# Floroclear for fishing the micro jigs .
Any time on the water is fun .
