Didn’t start out there .
I started at the town pond and it looked so bad I didn’t even make a cast .
I headed to lake McIntosh where I fished off the dock for about thirty minutes and caught one small gill .
Then I remembered there was a short section of creek below the dam. The upper end has a fenced off buffer zone , about 80-100 yards downstream, it’s posted by the local airport.
I found three spots I was able to get off some kind of cast and caught fish .
I was fishing my 4’10” Major Craft Finetail Glass which was the perfect rod for fishing between the trees along the creek.
It was paired with my Shimano Soare XR500spg and 2# Floroclear.
I didn’t lose any fish with the 2# line but if I’d caught anything bigger than what I caught I may have . Wishing I had braid on this one with at least 3# leader .
I caught twelve gills and three small bass in the hour I spent there .
Getting there is a good walk downhill , coming out on the dam’s service road, it was all uphill . At least it was paved .
I had a banded water snake pay me a visit just before I left , I chased it off with a stick , but it was back in five minutes , staring up at me .
Love creek fishing even if it’s tough to do .
