Better than a good day at work

Thanks everybody! Really can't complain, almost have to call it comical. Did I mention that my wife decided to take me to dinner, chose a new restaurant at the 11th hour, and it was opportunistic? LOL.

Sounds like most folks favor one rod. Is this the one?

Regarding the reel not fitting - I just looked and it is a Trion combo that I have. Will that reel not fit other spinning rods?

One thing to note - my existing rod is 5 foot, I think it is this one. I'd really like to be 5 or 5'6ish out of habit. Is there a Lelands in that length, or am I just missing out by using these shorter rods?

That I'm not sure. I usually catch quite a few with that being a little on the smaller side that are various colors in these neighborhood ponds. About 5% of the time I catch a bass, which I of course greatly enjoy. Only caught one crappie in all the years I've been going to these ponds, but know that they exist.

Yes, that’s the rod. By reel compatibility I was meaning balance. I paired mine with the BnM Pro 50 spinning reel.

I'll make it even more obvious that I'm an rookie.....what do you mean by balance?

A combo should balance about where your index finger is when you hold the reel properly. You’re basically just holding the weight of the rig instead of holding up the tip which is tiring. I have the predecessor to the TCB but it’s the same rod and it does well for me. The right rod with a reel that balances well and light line will cast a jig a long ways. I hope you find what you need.

Ah ok. I thought you just put any spinning rod on any spinning reel.....shows what I know!

Any way to know if this will match in advance? Am I better to just buy another combo, and put the reel from my Plueger (now broken) combo on the shelf?

Not everybody thinks a spinning rod combo has to “balance “ .
I like small 500 size reels and they rarely balance a rod .
I do like an overall lightweight combo though.

Not everybody thinks a spinning rod combo has to “balance “ . It’s a matter of personal preference IMO .
I like small 500 size reels and they rarely balance a rod .
I do like an overall lightweight combo though.
BTW , shorter rods are easier to balance.

I searched around and if your Trion is a size 20 , it weighs 6.3oz .
You shouldn’t have any problem with rod balance with any 5-5’6” rods .
Some rods once you get over six feet tend to be tip heavy and a heavier reel is nice to have to balance the rod, it it isn’t necessary.
Just makes it feel more comfortable to fish .
