Thread: Short Town pond trip

Back the pond today for about forty minutes while waiting to pick up my wife.
It was a little after noon , weather was warm , but windy .
I switched my line on my Shimano Soare XR 500spg from 2# to 3# . I wanted to see the difference in casting and handling. I used the same 6’3” Abu Garcia MB3 rod .
3# Floroclear used to be my go to line .
I noticed yesterday the two pound line was badly affected by the wind . Even after my jig hit the wind would blow my line several feet , sometimes onto the bridge .
The super thin 2# line had some issues with rod wrap and easily tangled .
The 3#, being slightly thicker and stiffer should help with some of the issues and it seemed like it did .
My only worry was casting distance suffering . But I couldn’t really tell any difference using the same jig I used yesterday.
With all the testing going on I managed to catch four shellcrackers and two bluegills, one was a nice fat one .
