A hot 30 minute fishing trip , in more ways than just the heat .
Dropped my wife off at aquatic therapy and I had an hour before I needed to pick her up .
Closest water is the Town Pond and it’s about fifteen minutes away depending on traffic.
And it’s 2:45pm , the hottest part of the day , weather app says it’s 91 with a heat index of 96 . Wind 10-15 with gusts to 20 .
But I can’t stand to just sit in a car and wait .
I took one rod , my 5’6” St Croix Premier ULF2 , paired with my Shimano Soare XR 500spg and 2# Floroclear.
I picked one lure , a simple black hand tied leech pattern tied on a size 12 streamer hook with a 4mm Tungsten bead .
When I got to the pond I set my watch timer to 35 minutes to give me five minutes to walk to the pond and quickly picked a spot to the left side of the bridge had a little shade .
Casting wasn’t too bad if I timed the wind just right .
On about my third cast , I hooked into a nice shellcracker that made the little Soare sing a couple of times . Turned out to be the biggest of the afternoon.
When my timer went off I was landing a nice UL bass that finished up a total of eight fish .
Five shellcracker, two medium bluegills, a the bass .
Hot fishing for a hot afternoon !
The jig , four of the best crackers, and the nice little bass !
