Started off at lake McIntosh using a 5’6” Abu Garcia MB 3 UL casting rod paired with a Zebco Omega Pro Z02 spooled with 2# Floroclear.
Casting with a homemade streamer hook jig and mini TM was pretty good , but the fish just weren’t cooperating that good and I only caught four in about an hour .
It was a different experience fishing with the UL spincast combo . Not bad , just different.
I left McIntosh and went to the old mill creek . I found the creek super low even with the rains lately .
I switched rods to a 5’ St Croix Avid ULF paired with my new Presso 1000sspg , spooled with 2# line . I was casting a micro spinner and caught four fish before they just quit . They all seemed to be located in a shaded area of the creek . I caught a couple of pretty redbreast and had a nice shellcracker get off near the bank .
Fishing sunny areas gave up nothing , So I went back to Lake McIntosh and switched lures on the St Croix to the streamer jig and mini TM .
I ended up catching another sixteen including a nice size shellcracker and a smaller one that was very colorful.
A fairly hot morning with only a slight occasional breeze .
I headed home around 12:15 to get out of the heat .
