Default 30 gills in 70 minutes

    What a blast !
I went back to lake McIntosh, the place I fished Thursday and took a couple rods to play with the gills .
I took my 5’ St Croix Premier ULM paired with a Shimano Miravel c2000s with 2# Floroclear, and a 5’ Daiwa Trout X XUL paired with a Daiwa Fuego 1000 LT with 2# line .
Both performed awesome, but I preferred the St Croix Premier rod and the Daiwa Fuego . If I’d had the time I would have swapped the reels on the rods .
I liked the casting and feel of the SC Premier and the Fuego was just smoother than the Miravel.
At this lake , I’m able to park close enough to the lake where it’s not a problem changing rods and I like doing these rod to rod comparisons.
Since the geese at the Town pond keep it a mess , I’ll be driving a little farther to lake McIntosh where the water and the banks are cleaner .
I ended up catching 30 gills in the seventy minutes I fished and the highlight was when a nice size largemouth grabbed one of my bream and I had a nice couple minutes fight until the bass decided to let go of the bream . It made several nice runs with the Fuego drag singing my favorite song .
    Lure was a .7g micro spinner .

Yes sir , I do like my St Croix Ultralights , as much , if not more than my JDM rods .
They have a feel I’m more familiar with .
My daughter just sent me a St Croix gift card for Father’s Day and I ordered an Avid 5’6” UL two piece rod .
Happy Father’s Day to you also !
