It’s been windy all week and today was no exception. Winds 10-15 with gusts over 30 .
Made it a tough jig fishing day .
I met up with my fishing buddy around 11:30 to find the lake at our meetup boat ramp looked like chocolate milk.
Fishing with my 6’3” Abu Garcia Mass Beat paired this week with my new Shimano Soare BB 500 SPG , spooled with 2# P-line , I caught five small crappie on both Trout Magnet jigs and a hand tied 1/80th jig under a small float .
My buddy caught three small bass on Roostertals .
We moved to ramp number two , and the water clarity was a little better , but the wind blowing in to us made it difficult to fish .
I caught a couple small green sunfish and my buddy caught his best spotted bass of the day on a roostertail.
Moving to ramp three of the day , we found clearer water and this was where I caught a couple small gills and a nice spotted bass .
With the warmer water temps , this spot gave me a battle that made me think it was twice its size .
It took me a timed fifteen minutes to land it .
I love my Abu Garcia MB rod and the new Shimano Soare BB 500 . The drag worked perfectly and the reel didn’t bind with a load . A fine little reel for just under $125 .
I would like to try a Shimano SOARE XR 500SPG if Digitaka ever gets them in .
A pic of my buddy’s bass , my bass , and a pic of the biggest crappie and prettiest sunfish .
A challenging but fun day , as always .
