Cold weather and doctor appointments shifted my day to meetup with my fishing buddy to Wednesday this week .
Because there were fewer people at the lake today , we plan on making Wednesday our meetup day .
Temps were below freezing at daylight this morning, so we agreed to meet around 12:30 .
When I arrived I found the lake was up about a foot and half and looked like chocolate milk.
On my second cast using a rootbeer float 1/64 Trout magnet , I hooked into the big fish of the day, a very nice crappie .
I went on to catch six crappies , three green sunfish , and a small spotted bass .
My buddy caught one each , a nice crappie , a small spot , and a green sunfish .
All of his were caught using a roostertail.
I only took one rod combo today , my 6’3” Abu Garcia Mass Beat travel rod paired with a Daiwa Fuego LT 1000d , spooled with 2# p-line fluorocarbon ,
The weather warmed up to around 60 but felt warmer with light winds and sun .
