I mainly ues these type for my daughter shes only 4 and thinks hooking real worms crickets and maggots is still pretty gross. we have had pretty good luck, but its been in deeper water around shady boat docks. when fishing close to the banks the lil 1's steal the bait and are gone. my guess is that your fishing the wrong spot, try fishing deeper around the back side of boat docks w/ a slip cork and a small but long shanked hook.
