A Messy weekend ended with a cold night last night ,that gave way to a nice , sunny day today.
I Left home around 10:30 with the temps in the mid forties and an hour later it was fifty four .
Light wind most of the day until around three and it got gusty .
The rain over the weekend raised the lake level about a foot and a half and stained .
I caught my first of two small bass waiting for my fishing buddy to arrive on my 5’4” St Croix Panfish paired with a Daiwa Legalis LT 1000d spoiled with 3# P-line .
About thirty minutes later I caught the second and that was it for a couple of hours of casting, retrieving.
And then I discovered some green sunfish and small warmouths had moved back in around the riprap next to the boat ramp.
I caught one small green sunfish and two warmouths , but had several that had the tail of my Bobby Garland Itty Bitty Swim’r and let go as I lifted them out of the water
This was my first time jigging for green sunfish using my 6’3” Abu Garcia Mass Beat . I paired it with a Daiwa Fuego LT 1000d spooled with 2#P-Line Flouroclear .
A perfect combo for these little fish .
My buddy went fishless until he found a fly in his tackle that proved to be a good teaser for some tiny green sunfish. He managed to catch six of the smallest we’ve caught .
I think the bite is just around the corner.
If the water stayed up around the riprap it’ll make my day .
I could jig for greenies all day .
A fun day out .
