Todays weather where I live was cloudy ,misty , 52 , and foggy this morning, by the time I drove to the lake ramp to meet up with my fishing buddy the temp was 62 and partly cloudy. It was 74 when I left the lake at 3:00pm to head home , 56 and foggy when I got home a little after 4pm . Almost a 20 degree difference.
Lake West Point Reservoir is in the middle of winter draw down making fishing challenging. Muddy banks and shallow water near shore . The lake is 5.14’ below full pool , but looks lower .
I managed three green sunfish , a hybrid yellow gill ( I still haven’t figured out what these fish are ) But I like them , they fight as good as a redear , and a nice spotted bass.
The bass made the trip . A lot of fun on my 6’6” St Croix Triumph light rod paired with a Daiwa Fuego LT 1000.
My fishing buddy did a little better with three bass , two spots, one LM , a couple of yellow bream , and three bluegill . One his spots was about the size of mine as was his LM .
He was using a 5’ Berkley fiberglass UL Trout dough rod paired with a Shakespeare UL reel and 2# SOS line .
Here’s a few pics of my fish today .
