Yep , I couldn’t believe it’s been almost a week since I’d been fishing , so I grabbed a 2wt flyrod and took off this morning.
First stop was the mill creek . The water was only inches and what looked like a family reunion was gathering at the park .
I turned around and headed to the water reservoir that has the little section of riprap.
The water there was low also . A lot of the rocks were out of the water .
I managed to catch nine , all would be considered micros IMO . Five warmouths, 3 green sunfish and one rare little fish I believe to be a true spotted sunfish .
This was only the third one of these I’ve ever caught .
One of the warmouths was less than five inches , but looked old.
All are beautiful and fun on the two weight flyrod .
While fishing , I heard something splash and in a small pocket between rocks was a green sunfish about 5-6” . He looked trapped .
Carefully, I was able to maneuver into position to scoop him in my hand out of the pocket into open water . As I scooped him I noticed it had gold size 6 Aberdeen hook in his jaw .
Wished I could have grabbed him , I would have removed that hook for him .
I’m not sure how it got it that predicament, but at least he’s in open water now and hopefully can live with that hook .
