once again , that fish you managed looks EXACTLY like the same version we have here that are often misidentified as red ear crosses and for sure are not , without stirring the pot too much , that fish is most probably NOT a pumpkin seed cross .
greens cross with bluegill in these parts on just about every water body and way more so in ponds .
my bet is still green/bluegill cross ...just saying
You probably right and it really doesn’t matter for they all really just sunfish. I’ve been fishing in these ponds around town for nearly 8 years, Ketchn and never have caught anything remotely resembling a true Pumpkinseed. But I’ve also seen bluegill-x-green that look very bland in coloration so I guess I’m pretty lucky to have caught a very attractive one.Quote:

Good to know there’s hybrids to be found here in this neck of the woods. I read that they hard to occur naturally in the wild in many parts of the country unless introduced or stocked by wildlife management. Thanks again, I’m constantly learning more about sunfish species.Quote:
