    Default Sunday Morning creek fishing

I went back to the creek this morning.
Should been in church , but until the Covid numbers in my county get better , I’ll continue to avoid any crowds .

The water had receded maybe ten inches from yesterday. Hoping it stayed up enough to allow a restocking from the deeper waters farther down the creek .
Fishing my 8’ TFO Signature 2 4wt , I was swinging a beadhead nymph without any takers.
Switched over to a size 10 black woolybooger for about fifteen minutes worth of dissecting each little section of the creek .
Just as was about to work the woolybooger back upstream to me for the last time , I felt a thump , raised the rod as I muttered the word “ finally” . This didn’t feel like one the little redbreast I’d been catching.
This one was running up and downstream , putting a nice bend in the 4wt .
After a couple minutes I got it close enough to see it was some type of bass .
As I reached down to lip it , I realized I’d caught my first nice shoal bass from this particular creek . The south’s equivalent to the smallmouth bass of the north .
If I didn’t catch anything else today , my day was made .
I went on to catch two small largemouth fingerlings and four gills including a pretty redbreast .
Most were caught after switching to a 6’6” 3wt fiberglass rod .
I thought the graphite rod would give me an advantage, but in reality it didn’t and it lacked the personality of fishing with glass .
Wished I’d caught my shoalie on the glass rod , maybe next time .
