    Default Laurel Hill Lake

Unlike me to fish on a weekend…..much less a holiday weekend. Got into some quality bluegill at Laurel Lake today……meaning fish in the 8-8.5 inch range with outstanding girth. Fished the Major Craft Fine Tail Banshee 5’ 9” XUL rod spooled with 2.3# test Ester line….1.5 gram jig head with a Bison or Sow Bug colored Trout Magnet. Took me 4 hours to bring 80 bluegill to hand. Should have caught around 160 fish but they were very finicky today. This is my third outing this year where bluegill on bed did no want to bite. Found one bed that had to have 100 bluegill on it. But I had to cast over and over to get them to hit. Tried spoons…spinners…curly tail. Even tried the new Major Craft Metal Aji. In the end it was great to get out and get on some fish. Made for a fun day.

    Regards

You did better than I did Randy. I found one good fish and bunch of boat traffic. But the trolling motor works better since I relocated the heading sensor. Those are some pretty fish you got. My day will come, glad you got out and back unscathed on a holiday weekend.

Nice fish. I caught one 8 in blue gill during my trip on Sat. When I initially hooked it I thought I had snagged the tree top again, then it started pulling. Blue gill that size are a lot of fun.
