Default Had to Try Out the New Rod

I was out of town last week in an area with a Dunham's Sports store (none in my local area). Saw a Canyon Creek 7 foot ultralight rod on sale of $30. Couldn't resist! We had temps around 65 here yesterday, so I paired the rod with a Diawa Legalis I'd taken out of the rotation for a while. It was spooled up with 3 or 4# Fireline Crystal and some 2# copoly leader. Got on about 10 in a short session before dark.

Name of the rod is Super Ultra Lite but action is listed as UL. Lure weight ratings are 1/64 to 1/8 oz and line rating 2-6 pounds. It sure is floppy, almost like a fiberglass rod.

I can't find any further info on these rods, other than Dunhams sells them (up to 8 or 9 foot in length and 10 foot long noodle rods) and it's made with IM6 graphite. Is this a Dunham's store brand?

Seems like a nice rod for the price. If you don't like floppy rod, this one's not for you!

I think that rod might be one that Richard Gene has in his rotation. Congrats on the new rod and sticking some fish!

Nice….I tried out a new rod today…and one I have owned for 8 years and only fished once. It was so bad I did a video about not catching fish…LOL.

    Regards

Nice looking rod, I prefer a Non Floppy rod, it needs some back bone to fish most of my local waters. You stuck some nice fish though, congrats.

Me too, but that said congrats FFW on a good trip out. I haven’t had a chance to try my new Legalis out as of yet, so good to see it in action and taming some fish. I am really looking forward to some seat time with that reel. I’m going to go with 2lb Gamma. Looks like you found a nice rod for the upcoming season.

I have three of the Legalis reels. I think there is a newer version out these days. I've caught on the order of 800-1000 fish with them, including some 3-4 pound bass. The reel performed quite well. You may notice a slight flexing of the stem under heavy load. Otherwise, I've found the reel to be a great value and performer. Enjoy.
