Default Sunshine , Town pond , hand tied jigs

We had a cold morning , just below freezing, but the sun came out and by noon we were close to fifty degrees .
By three we were double nickels , 55 degrees .
My newest rod addition was delivered around 1:30 , a 5’4” St Croix Panfish one piece rod . I added a KastKing 500 zephyr reel filled with 4# Original P-Line .
I knew the water would be cold , but I hoped I would at least catch one and get some proper slime on the new rod .
Fished 1 1/2 hours using my hand tied woolybooger jigs under a small weighted float , so I could control the action of the jig .
I got several short hits and was able to land three of which two were nice for our town pond .
Two years ago , the town made the pond catch and release only , and it’s starting to produce some nice gills .

Those are some nice size gills. Any comments on the new rod?

I was so excited to catch something, I almost forgot how great the little rod performed.
Lately I’ve been using my 5’4” SC original Panfish rod and loving how it fished , so I ordered the new version and I’m not disappointed at all .
These two rods have become my favorites. They seemed to be the perfect length . Just long enough to cast a float n jig , and an accurate caster with a 1/32 jighead and plastic .
Worked pretty good with a 1/64th jighead and 1” Gulp minnow too .
The entire outfit weighs under 8 ounces .
