Trout Magnets let me down

yep, I was out three hours today and only got ten fish. Two bass, eight gills all of which were very small.

I've found small pond fishing different than fishing lakes especially ponds with no pads or overhanging tree limbs - both shade sources. Going to the trout Magnet made sense fishing for the small stuff exept when the small stuff is tail nipping. When fish are prone to hitting, the Crappie Magnet pretty much catches everything regardless size. The shallower the water the smaller the ballhead for the slowest pause & twitch retrieve. Even a float with the Trout Magnet and 1/32 oz. ball head jig can do well with a pause & stop retrieve and better yet when there's a light chop on the water.

Hope you get some rain. Our drought ended late last year and all waters are up max. Shallow water fishing has improved 100%.

Green, ya done good stickin with it and finding who was home and hungry. I haven’t fished a plastic worm in a lot of years also. When I was in the final months, maybe a couple of years, I fished a 6’ medium action rod with 6lb mono, a #1 or 1/0 double offset worm hook and a 1/32 bullet weight with a cheap 4” wal mart worm with a curl tail.. I caught many between 5 and 6 pounds and more under that than I could count. Everyone throws big baits for big fish. Offering a snack sized worm instead of a meal might not have landed the giants some of the guys bragged on, but I was busy more often than not. You brought back some good memories with those fish.
