    Default Winter Bluegill

An older gentleman told me that Dec-Feb is his favorite time to catch bluegill and redear. I've seen pictures and he catches some dandies. I went out this past weekend with nightcrawler and a drop shot rig to try for myself. I found an area similar to the one the gentleman told me to look for and after an hour I finally found them (30ft deep- 50 degree water)....one after another. It was a blast, but we only caught maybe 3 keeper bluegills. (Didn't keep any)

So my question is how do i find the bigger fish? Any tips or you think there just might not be any bigger gills in that one spot?

The two main lakes I fish for Gills, this tends to happen as well, school sizes of same sizes. Don’t know where you will find the bigger ones but when you do I bet most will be similar in size. Keep after them, and when you find the big ones we do like pics

My wife loves dropshot for bream on sunny and calm January & February day. Good cure for the winter blues
