Monday Meet up

Met up with my fishing bud this morning at our favorite reservoir to chase whatever gills we could find .
With a cold front due in around midday I was hoping the fishing would be good .
I arrived around 9:45 , mu bud around 10:00 .
By the time he got there , I’d already caught ten small green sunfish .
They were jumping all over my Trout magnet jigged around what rocks were left in the water . I later switched to swimming Bobby Garland Itty Bitty baits .
The Corp of Engineers are well into winter drawdown and we’re losing between a foot to two feet a week .
I took four rod combos but mainly fished my two 5’ Rosewood Ultralights , one with a Carbon X 1000 reel the other had a KastKing Zephyr 500 , both spooled with 3# P-line Flouroclear .
I caught 34 total for the morning, mostly green sunfish, but also caught a variety of gills and a couple small spotted bass .
My bud caught 16 total including a nice spotted bass and a crawfish about four inches long , using 1” Gulp minnows .
I caught one nice greenie and some other colorful gills . The smaller green sunfish are the prettiest.
