Some soft plastics will react with other plastics. I've had some melt into goo, some cheap plastic tackle boxes get melted a little, and so on. Some soft plastics will stain others around then. Some won't. Crappie Magnets seem really stable. They don't melt, bleed color, etc. I had a z-man TRD that turned to goo in a plano 3700 box. It didn't affect the box.
Because of the above, I suggest plastic containers that are made to resist such things. Whether it be the factory bags, "worm binder" bags, or whatever.
Remember that I'm old, and soft plastics have changed a lot over the years, but the z-man issue was recent. In their factory bag, they are fine. Most soft plastics I use don't bleed or melt or any of that nonsense. I tend to use Bobby Garland and Trout Magnet brand stuff right now. Beetle spins and bett's spin bodies also don't have issues.
Keep plastics and hair jigs apart. I've ruined many hair jigs over the years with soft plastics reacting and gumming the hair jigs up.
I use both. The fast movers get into a small compartmented Plano type box. Others stay in the pack and go into a bigger Plano that will accommodate the size of the bags. That’s mostly for my trolling stuff. I also use the Itty Bitty swimmers a lot. They’re just too small to keep the bags around and they go into a small double sided Plano box. If you have a place that you can keep some extra bags at home and not expose all you own, that works better. The Itty Bitty stuff has about a bag in each compartment and all the extras stay home. Makes life a lot easier. They may be small but they need to be straight when stored also.
I keep them in the packs they come in.....which is easy for me to do as I only use 2 different colored Trout Magnets for 99 percent of my fishing......Bison and Sow Bug.

I prefer to keep plastics in the package they came in. Use large, think gallon size ziplock type, freezer bags as they are a bit thicker. Then I gather up bags by color or brand and stick one or 2 bags in a cheap tupperware style container. Grocery store brands work fine and cheaper. This becomes my day box. Store the rest in boat compartment. Got plenty of room for this so I do this with bass plastics and crappie plastics. But if storage is a bit of a problem I would store the bigger bags at home. Restock my day box as needed.
I keep them in the original bag they come in. Then I put those bags in quart ziplock bags sorted into color groups. I keep the most used colors in a compartment up front where I'm fishing for easy access.
