I've been using 3# Fireline Crystal braid on my Presso/Legalis combo since early 2020. I've not noticed any excessive tangling or knotting problems. And line twist is a thing of the past. The sensitivity is fantastic, almost like a whole new experience catching gills. The biggest PIAs are seeing and tying the line since it's so thin!
That said, different strokes for different folks. I would still fish just as much if braid disappeared today.
I thought it was just me with braid. I could hear it sanding on my rod tip when I cast and set the hook. BUT that Power Pro super slick 8# on jig pole with a Solo reel. Worth every bit of the detriment to the eyes.
If you wanna test a good cheap mono line try Berkeley Trilene Sensation in a hivis color.

If you're looking for a smooth braid, try the Diawa J-Braid, 4x or 8x. I have it on my bass rods (10# 20#) and like it a lot. I don't think it's as abrasion resistant as the Power Pros and other braids though. I just started using the 4x J-Braid, 6# on my BFS set up. Casts like a dream.
Wow! Got my new rod and reel combo in and put together i loaded it with kastking 4lb hivis mono. I went fishing this morning and wow does this thing cast nice. I had a 1/32oz road runner with a 1” curly tail on it and I can cast that thing a long wats for such a light jig. I’m very impressed with how smooth the reel is. I actually caught a few really small bass on it while I was just practicing casting the new pole. It’s amazing how sensitive it really is.
So I got my pole, reel, and line. And I must say I really like this pole is has amazing sensitivity. I got skunked on crappie but I caugh about 30 hand sized bluegill.
You're doomed now. You've caught the sickness of ultralight fishing. Enjoy!
