I think with a little maintenance, those Abus will last for ever. Mine is from 1969. I got it off eBay. It was dirty and needed new lube and oil. But that's all I've had to do to it and it casts like a dream. I've added a larger, modern handle though.

The GM combo is lots of fun. That little 5 foot rod is so easy to use and casts nicely. Very different from my modern graphite rods. But not bad for a little whippy fiberglass rod from the 1960s.
