Went to the Raritan River with some friends and threw around the Trout Slayer from Leland Lures for a couple of hours. I've gotta say that any product I've used from them I've been very happy with. Ended up catching a couple small smallmouth bass, green sunfish, redbreast sunfish, and a lone rock bass. Had a ton of hits all throughout the day, but it was a challenge to hook up with the fish. I think it's because either they were too small for the lure, or they were just trying to bite the arms off of the crawfish and not going after the actual body. I've seen fish do this in aquariums and figure they're doing the same in nature. A lot easier to eat a crawfish that can't pinch you back. Anyway, this was a cool little spot that I really liked. I'd like to go back at some point and target some larger smallmouths, but that will have to wait. All things considered I think that was one of my more enjoyable fishing days this year.
