I've ran 2 jigs for years crappie fishing. Sometimes I'll use a bb sized split shot on the bottom then 2 jigs starting 8" up from the split shot for crappie and panfish.
The crappie spreader rigs are fantastic for perch or other fish on the bottom when in a boat/canoe/kayak/etc. Used them for years on lake Erie for perch. We'd use the 2 standard hook holders and put a 3rd hook on the bottom snap where the sinker goes. The wave action wound bounce the rig covering from the bottom up to 3'. You wouldn't get a lot of fish on the bottom hook but when you did there were typically jumbo's. On good days doubles were common and triples would happen every now and then.
Anyway it's good to move the jigs around at different heights until you find what works that day.
Thank you for all the reply's, It's always a great day catching bluegill & the weed beds I'm fishing always keep it interesting. When back to the same place today and caught just as many bluegill and 2 crappie, 4 perch.
