Finally, 70 F water temp, and shellcrackers going shallow.
This lake has been 65F or lower for weeks, and it finally started warming up yesterday and today. It was 68 when I put in today, and nearly 72 back in the creek - where I finally found some shellcrackers up shallow, just at time to leave (lake closes at 8PM). I also found my PB shellcracker! I think it is, anyway, 'cause I never weighed them before. 1.21 lbs., 12.5" long, and fat with eggs.

Weird that this is the first big one of the year, in May. Anyway, they are moving shallow, and I am going back in the AM, oh yes.
Caught it on a "root beer float" color Trout Magnet, on Daiwa jig 1.5 g #8, tipped with a bit of Power Wiggler, on my Tict Ice Cube RP rod with "17 Luvias 1000 reel. This lake is very clear, and I'm finding the root beer float color to be preferred over bison or sowbug.
