Not sure, but I think that one may be a redeared sunfish (shellcracker) or perhaps even a cross with a bluegill since it is minus the red spot on the gill flap. At least that is what I thought it was. Although both crappie pictures do show a lot of gold just outside the belly area toward the tail and that may have been what you were talking about.

Pretty fish. Hoping I can step away from work for a couple of hours this afternoon and catch a few.
