Been using the izorline XXX smoke 2lb. test for ~5 years now. Also use 2lb. Hybrid Yo Zuri green - good for brush & is visible in low light. Think the breaking point is around 6lbs. Casts well and low memory.
I like the XXX for the smaller jigs and a 3000 yard spool is super cheap.
Both copolymers are great lines for BG fishing in SoCal.
Back in the day - Tectan was the line (2lb was .0035) - problem was the sun would eat it up. I think they stopped making 2lb. test.
I used back when with guides in Kodiak on salmon and halibut in heavy sizes and I liked it a lot ...never tried the light versions though
Glad you made a comparison to Tectan line. Used Tectan for years and love it, wish it was easier to get though, now I see how Izorline compares i will be trying some of it.
Used Dam Tectan for a very short while. Cabellas was selling the 2# test in bulk spools...on sale and I forget the price. This was years back. The line was bad....maybe 20 feet would be good and then 5 feet would break just by a slight pull. Many of us who bought that line tried to get a refund from Cabellas.......no go, they would not do it. Any line can go bad if exposed to sun and very high heat. I have not seen any Tectan in 2# test for a while now...as LedHed said I think they quit making it. Line discussions are really a mute point and here is my reason I think that is so. Most folks will settle on a brand of line and that is it...they will not try another line. They may try a new line in 4 or 5 years but most get set on it and will not stray. There are a few who will constantly try new lines...I am one of them. While SOS 2# test is my go to line I am always checking out new lines. All of my reels are JDM reels with shallow spools...only holding 85-95 yards of 2# test. My SOS line is coming off a 20,000 yard bulk spool. My Japanese lines that I buy are not bulk but the spools are made to fill a JDM reel 2-3 times. Even if I want to try a new line on the USA market I can get 3 refills off the standard 300 yard spool. I go overkill on changing out line. When I am fishing my 4-5 days a week I change it out each week. If it is white bass season where I am catching 100-200 of those a day I will change the line out after a single day like that...which for the next 5 months or so will be pretty often. I have several new lines coming for Christmas out of Japan. I must admit I am a tackle enthusiast. One of the lines I really like for super UL fishing is the Ester mono out of Japan. It looks like mono but is made from polyester and has no stretch...I mean none. It is the only line I know of that has zero stretch. My tackle quest is ongoing....and I guess I will be until I die or give up fishing.

Thanks for the post guys that s some good information. I've been using Izorline now for about 6 months now and I like it but I have noticed the line is starting to kink up real bad any suggestions of why.
Most of the time that would be caused when fish is pulling drag and you are reeling at same time. But no matter how good one is at not doing that a little of it will happen. Also catching a lot of fish on that same line can cause it. Line needs to be changed out and that time will vary on how much you fish.....and how many fish you catch. As I said I change my line out each week....and I know that most don’t do that. Yes it is overkill but I have the line so I do it. Is it 2# test? Light line will have to be changed out more often than say 6# test and above.Quote:

I've caught over 1400 fish since October , I fish around 2x per week and I use #6 test line and I also long line almost exclusively. I just need to change out my line more often.
I have been treating my Izorline with Line&Lure line conditioner and it seems to help keep the line fresh. I spooled up about 2 weeks ago and just re spooled yesterday because the line started to show wear and kink up like you experienced. But I have put that line to the test and I like it real well. I think it's a good idea to change line often anyway if you do as much fishing as I do. It's a good thing I did change the line because the first cast I caught a bass about 3+lbs. and it put everything to the test, rod, reel and line. A reel with a good drag is always nice to like the Shimono C1-4 1000 that I am using.Attachment 283016
Where are you all finding the 2lb izorline and the 2lb yozuri? I usually use the 2lb sos but have been out for a bit and they don't have any bulk spools in stock so I'm going to need a 1500 or a 3000 spool until I can get some more sos...
Here in So. Cal. you can get Izorline just about anywhere, like Wal Mart, Bass Pro and many other sports departments. I get it on Amazon in 6000 yard spools for a very good price. Here is something I forgot to mention in my previous post. I keep all of my line in the refrigerator, even braid. Of course I am single and I think you married guys probably wouldn't get away with that unless you have a frige in your man cave. I am convinced this keeps line fresh for long periods of time.
