Just got the Nanofil in the mail, and I'm glad it's hi vis. 2lb size and it claims to be .002. My first reaction is that I could have gone heavier and still improved the casting distance. The other lines I'm looking at are stating about .007, so there's quite a difference. I don't believe that I'll be using a leader on this and I'm going to have to try my knots and make sure that they work and hold. So far I'm impressed. This just might complete the rig in fine style. I'll keep y'all posted.

Castability is super, mostly used a backhanded flip to get what I needed. I also didn't use any backing and the spool was under filled. I think this is part of the reason that I didn't have any issues with it falling off the reel. The 150yds that I got on the spool didn't come close to filling a President 6920. A layer of tape on the spool was all I used. I'll be buying more of this and will add a 4lb clear leader to help slow the fall. There's less resistance and it falls noticeably faster. A 3 1/2lb catfish was among the 29 that went through the boat today and it handled all of them very well. It has a personality like any other braid but not to the point that I was frustrated even once today. I'll be buying more for my other casting rods.

I will try some 2# next time I spool up. I now use the 4# nanofil and like it a lot. I also use a leader in clear water.

I like the Lightning rods also, I only have one right now but will be getting more as I need more rods. Another rod I really like is the Fenwick Eagle ultra light, it cast good and feels good with a light reel on it. I use fire line on most of my rods and have no problems with casting distance.

I finally remembered to look at the 6'6" Lightning Rod that I've had for a few years and found that it's a medium light action. With a 2000 series reel and 4lb mono, it has been my hands down favorite since I got it. Should anyone be looking for a little heavier rod that will still throw a 1/32 like no tomorrow, take a look at this when you can. I had a Fenwick UL , real short, and liked it a lot. Til a friend sent it swimming. Would own another but the dollars slow me down. I just don't spend lots for a rod, but shop long and hard to find the ones I have that serve me well. The Lightning Rods have my attention. Need to find one of the 5' to see how I like it.
