Default Ross Barnett reservoir (Jackson, ms) bream

Does anyone know where the good bream spots are on the Rez? I always fish for crappie at the Rez so I'm not familiar with any bream spots. I don't have access to a boat, so any bank spots will be helpful. This cold already has me thinking about the spring again.

We used to do pretty good in the " tommy's trading post" area. From the bank one place was as good as another . By boat , near the golf coarse was a good area . We also went up the trace (north) where the river comes into the lake . I can not remember the name but it was something ferry best I can remember .

Eagle 1, you are talking about the Ratliff's Ferry area. Excellent fishing up that way especially during the weekdays when the crazy weekend river rats are away. As far as bank fishing goes, it's gonna be slim and non-existent in that area. One place not too far from there is the Burnside Park just north of Philadelphia. It's an oxbow of the Pearl River and easily fished from the bank. When I was a kid we used to hike a trail from the park to the railroad tracks about a 1/2 mile behind the park. From there we walked south on the tracks for another 1/4-1/2 mile. There is a bar pit lake on the right side and from the south end of it was a trail that led to a much more remote oxbow. We caught tons of fish in these small lakes. I remember filling two 6' rope stringers with bull blue bream and bass on several occasions. At the end of the day we put our stringers of fish in homemade fish sacks, slung them across our shoulders for the long trek out to the truck, where we could finally ice them down. I am forty seven years old now and have not been to the remote spots since I was 16-17 years old. Might be worth checking.

I've never done it but I would image you could do well bank fishing off pipeline road. I have fished several spots up there where I can see the that road running next to the water. It runs north of Tommy's trading post up the east side of the Pearl River section of the Rez and has several dirt boat ramps off it. Pull up any official lake map and and it will be the road that has those ramps marked on it. Lots of old sloughs should be accessible from there. Also, you could try the other side of the river and fish up the road for the Wildlife Management area, just make sure you fill out a card first. Not sure if you have to have a special permit for that area but there is several miles of road next to the lake there.
