    Default Early Spring Bream Fishing

I'm from southeast missouri and was wonder what types of baits and techniques would work for redear and bluegill this time of year, unsure of current water temp but s/b 50ish. Any help would be appreciated!

hard to go wrong with a bobber and live bait IMO. Try stopping by the local petshop and buying a pack of live mealworms or waxworms. Take them to the water and bait them on a longshank aberdeen hook and either slip-bob rig them or swivel/bobber rig them and wait. You should hook up with some that way. Another thing to try is small curlytailes plastics on a beetlespin rig. Think of a miniature spinner and maybe even add some live bait pieces on the hook, too. If you take two rods and rig one each way you have one to cast/retrieve while waiting for the bobber to go down on the other one. HTH! Best Fishes.:D

I'd go with bait under a float, too. I prefer maggots, but waxies/mealies/crickets are good, too.

I'd look for deeper water near spawning flats.

Thanks for the info guys, thats sort of what I was thinking. The impoundment is small so I'm going to try some flats with weedbeds near their shallower spawing grounds.
