Definitely a biting sign in my area when crickets are gone. Wax worms are usually next to go!

I was in wal mart sporting goods department two days ago and the crickets were "flying off the shelves". 5 folks came in for them and someone called on the phone to see if they had any left. The fish are biting somewhere!!!

FYI: if your local bait store is out of stock, pet stores are a great option. I get all of my bait from Petco.

I'm fortunate to have both a Petsmart and a Petco very close to me. Both have more and better varieties of bait than the local bait stores. My local Petco, for example, carries several different sizes of meal worms, plus waxworms, "superworms" (kind of a giant meal worm), and crickets.

Two cups is about the most I usually have a chance to get here at the local Wally World. I've asked the clerks to stock more, but they either don't care or they are actually selling really fast. Last time I was there, they had one cup and no wax worms. I guess the wax worms have really caught on in this area. Back in the spring they would have dozens of wax worm cups. Last few times I've been there they've had hardly any wax worms in stock.
I miss the days when I had a local bait shop that sold crickets by the tube. Man, you got so much for the money buying by the tube.
