Gill fishing from the bank

What areas do you guys fish that are bank bound?
I can go along and catch gills anywhere.
But to catch good sized ones is another thing. I can't top 7 1/2".
I'm in Pennsylvania so we don't have ones like the southern guys do.

I look for areas that have deeper water nearby. If the water is really shallow, you'll generally only catch dinks.

At this time of year, I catch a lot of fish suspended, well off the banks.

Thanks that may be my problem. Shallow water areas. I'll check areas for deep drop offs this weekend.
