They are great eating. I find the meat below the lateral line somewhat fishy tasting. I fillet and the take the top fillet and throw the rest. Very firm and goes good in a chowda.

White Perch are takin over the lake. They suspend over the thermocline and bust the small shad on the surface. 2" deep diving (6-8' Storm Smash Shad) crank gets them good casting or trolling. Vertical jigging also is good. Average is 10-12" but here is a tall near 14" citation my buddy got. I dont eat fish but everyone tells me they are great.

Around here most folks fish for them with parts of a nightcrawler. Good to see that they can be caught on artificials too! Great fighters on UL.

They have over run some of our lakes and our DNR delisted them as a game fish, so no limits on them. They are good to eat and fun to catch, but they wiped out our White Bass in several lakes. Our biologists are fearful they make affect crappie spawns next. They prey on the eggs and fry of other fish.
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men
i always wanted to ketch some when i lived up north as a kid but never found any ....they look very similar to white bass .....we have yellow bass down here and they are a major nuisance fish here in my opinion ....they have similar habits to what was posted about the white perch ....and rarely get above 10 to 12 inches
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whales
Ya they are like Piranhas and hang out in wolf packs. They have a tendency to follows lures and hit hard right at the boat. Very aggressive.
Get you a sabiki rig and just let bounce along the bottom while drifting and you can slay them.
did some research on these guys a while back. they are not a perch at all but a saltwater cousin of the white bass , just no stripes. some have found there way into freshwater lakes , and seem to do well. they apparently hang out in places similar to white bass. lots of fun to catch i'm sure.
Good to eat but a nuisance. They can be caught on the strike King Bitsy minnow just going along and casting to the bank
